Mirror mosaic counter tops are beautiful, easy, durable and economical counters to make for side boards, buffets, bars and more. I made mirror mosaic counters for a side board and bar counter from left over mirror.
The process is as follows;
Items needed:
- Broken mirror pieces
- Mirror adhesive
- Unsanded grout
- Corner molding
- Paint
- Finishing nails
- Wood filler
Please wear gloves and goggles.
Prepare your counter by framing out the 4 side edges with corner molding, mitering your corners and filling in any nail holes with wood filler. Sand and paint your frame in your preferred color. Using a hammer, break some mirrors into various sizes.
Lay out the pieces of mirror on the counter in a layout that is suits for you. Lift up each piece of mirror and using mirror adhesive, glue the broken mirror pieces onto the counter filling in the smaller gaps with smaller pieces of mirror as much as possible. Allow the mirror adhesive to dry completely.
Mix some unsanded grout per manufacturers instruction and apply to the counter filling in all the gaps. Allow the grout to dry partially per manufacturers instruction.
Using a foam sponge and water, clean off the excess grout and allow to dry. completely.
Apply a grout sealer per manufacturers instruction and your counter is ready for use. Enjoy!
