I responded to an ad giving out a free credenza and went to pick it up .\u00a0 This was a bit challenging because being solid wood, it was much heavier than expected.\u00a0 It was however in very good shape and I got help\u00a0to pick it up.<\/p>\n

The transformation process is as follows;<\/p>\n

After<\/p><\/div>\n

I placed the credenza exactly where I wanted it to be.\u00a0 There was an electrical outlet on the wall behind it.\u00a0 I\u00a0did not want to loose the outlet so I identified exactly what part of the credenza will cover the outlet.\u00a0\u00a0I cut out a rectangular hole in the back of the credenza directly in front of the outlet.\u00a0\u00a0 The that the outlet can now\u00a0be accessed from the inside of the credenza.<\/p>\n

Being part of a built in with side walls built to the ceiling, the only areas I had to work on was the front, bottom and the top.<\/p>\n

After<\/p><\/div>\n

Front:\u00a0 I painted the doors and drawers and all the front with a gold acrylic paint.\u00a0 I applied about 2 to 3 coats.\u00a0\u00a0 Using the DIY stencil I\u00a0 had made from old x-ray film, I stenciled in the design using white semi gloss paint.\u00a0 I put fluted moulding along both sides to cover the little gap between the credenza and the side walls of the built in.<\/p>\n

Bottom:\u00a0 I adjusted the feet to make sure the credenza is level and the height I wanted it to be permanently.\u00a0 I put baseboard along the bottom to unify it with the sides of the built in.<\/p>\n

Top: using corner moulding for the front and part of the sides and lattice moulding along the wall, I framed out the edge of the top.\u00a0 I\u00a0painted trim\u00a0it white in preparation for the mirror mosaic counter top I was going to lay.\u00a0 Please click here<\/a> to find out how I made the mirror mosaic counter top for this credenza transforming it into a bar cabinet and counter.<\/p>\n
